[Alternative Keyboard Gallery (http://tim.griffins.ca/gallery/keyboard/all.html)] These are just some cool keyboards, although I do not think they are bluetooth enabled. The twiddler would make a great bluetooth keyboard that one could use in meetings, while walking, or even while driving.
There is also the stowaway bluetooth keyboard [(stowaway) (http://www.thinkoutside.com)] which folds up and is fairly usable. There is a problem with the Nokia 7610 phone -- the shift key tends to act like the left soft key (usually the options button on phone). I do not know what takes them so long to fix this -- it has been over a year.
Larry Rudolph comments: Just got a [Virtual Laser Keyboard (http://www.itechdynamic.com/)]. It is cool and projects a keyboard on a flat surface and then detects when your fingers "tap" the surface. It looks cool, someone told me it appeared on a CSI episode, but I have a bunch of complaints.
- Absolutely must read setup instructions. Cannot just immediately pair.
- Symbian Installation is not certified -- very cheap and un-cool.
- Very un-mac friendly. Comes with mini-CD which is unusable in Mac powerbooks.
- Company web site is slow, painful, and hard to use. Could not get the user guide from the web site. There is a button but it does not work under firefox or safari.
- Comes with English wall outlet plug.
- It is not a bluetooth keyboard. It is some other strange device. Must install software in order to use it. This is so strange. Bluetooth has predefined keyboard profile and if they would use it, then many more devices could be supported.
- Can adjust the sensitivity -- but what does that mean?
- The sensitivity of some keys are different. I keep having trouble with the T key.
- When one first puts their fingers over the keyboard, in the ready position, some characters are already typed. A driver could recognize this, since it probably happens to everyone.
- On the 6830 Nokia Symbian phone, whenever the keyboard turns off, a "system error" message pops up. That forces one to hit the "ok" button -- I don't like that because I do not think it is OK.
- It is surprisingly hard to find flat surfaces that do not have too much light.
Found it very difficult to unpair. Hard to hit three keys at once: Shift, FN, B. There should be another way to do it. The software lets one control various things on the device from the phone, so why not reset?
In summary, it is a cool looking device. Everyone pays attention to it. The wow factor is great. It probably is not so usable.
GPS
As far as I can tell, all the bluetooth gps devices are all the same except for batteries and packaging. Will soon add a link to the one we use that costs $70.
